The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Iran 2-1 in their first match of the invitational four-nation tournament on Friday, at the Mardan Titanic Sports Complex in Antalya, Turkey.
Winger Moses Simon opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 6th minute with a clinical near-post finish, as the Super Eagles looked to impose themselves early in the encounter.
In the second half, the Super Eagles extended its lead in the 51st minute courtesy of a strike by Akor Adams.
Striker Mehdi Taremi pulled one back for Iran in the 67th minute, but it was only to be a consolation as Nigeria defended well to see out the victory.
