Super Falcons Ready For Canada Challenge, Says Coach
The head coach of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, Randy Waldrum, said the team is prepared for its opening game against Canada at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scheduled to hold in Australia and New Zealand.
Nigeria will face Canada, co-hosts Australia and newcomers Republic of Ireland in Group B. The opener against Canada will take place by 6am (WAT) on Friday, July 21st, at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.
In a video posted on the NFF’s Twitter handle, Waldrum praised the work ethic of the girls and said his team are geared up for the challenge against Olympic champions Canada.

Coach Waldrum can count on 10 of the players who helped the Super Falcons reach the knockout phase at France 2019, including Uchenna Kanu and Desire Oparanozie.
Five-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala, responsible for the only goal scored by a Nigerian player four years ago, will also return to the world stage.
Super Falcons legend Onome Ebi, who has featured at every global finals since 2003, will travel to her sixth tournament in July – a feat only achieved by Brazil’s Formiga and Japan legend Homare Sawa.
Australia and New Zealand will host the 10th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup from July 20th – 20th August.
