Supplementary Budget: Sokoto State Executive Council approves N27bn

The Sokoto State Executive Council has approved over N27 billion for the 2021 supplementary budget.

 

In a statement by the State Governor’s Special Adviser on Media  and Publicity,  Muhammad Bello, it said the meeting was chaired by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at the Government House Chamber in Sokoto State.

 

The State Commissioner for information, Isah Bajini Galadanchi, stated this while briefing newsmen after the State Executive Council met.

 

Galadanchi said the bill for the supplementary budget was deliberated by the council and will be sent to the State House of Assembly (SOHA) for consideration and passage into law.

 

Similarly, the Council approved the upgrade of the new ongoing Sports Complex to the standard of a full-fledged stadium, which initially had the capacity of 4,700 seats and will, upon the adjustment, have 11000-seats at the cost of over N781 million.

 

The cost of the contract was initially over N1.250 billion, but with the new development it will now be over N2.32 billion.

 

Also, the Council ratified the proposal to secure a loan facility from Zenith Bank PLC in order to pay for the State government counterpart funding for the actualization of the 2020 and 2021 Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) marching grant.

 

In view of this, the sum of over N715 million will be secured for 2020, while the sum of over N946 million will be secured for 2021 UBEC intervention and the facility will be paid back in 12 months.

 

At the close of its session, the council observed a special prayer for the departed soul of its former commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Arzika Tureta.
