Suspected Jihadists Kills 27 in Burkina Faso
Suspected jihadists have killed at least 27 people in attacks on villages in the north of the country at the weekend.
The government of Burkina Faso says the attack was perpetrated in the commune of Bourasso, province of Kossi, Boucle du Mouhoun region.
The Governor of Boucle du Mouhoun region, Victor Dabire said “defense and security forces have been deployed in the area to carry out sweeping and security operations.”
In the other attack, 12 people were killed in Yatenga province on Saturday.
Burkina Faso, which is one of the poorest countries in the world, has been grappling with a jihadist insurgency that swept in from neighbouring Mali in 2015.
