Taiwan, UK to deepen trade cooperation
Taiwan hopes to sign a trade deal with Britain and deepen cooperation with new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s government.
Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen stated this when she met visiting British minister of state for trade Greg Hands-on Wednesday in Taipei.
President Tsai said she looks forward to Britain joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and supporting Taiwan’s membership.

Tsai added that she hopes relations with Britain will continue to improve under new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Taiwan views Britain as an important democratic partner and has welcomed Britain’s support for its participation in international organizations, most of which Taiwan is excluded from due to China’s opposition.
