A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant from Taraba state, Mr Victor Kona, has promised to consolidate on the gains made by the present administration of Governor Darius Ishaku in the state by working in his stead.
Addressing newsmen at the PDP National headquarters shortly after submitting his nomination and expression of interest forms to contest for the governorship in Taraba state, Mr Kona said the present administration in the state had done well, and he was poised to continue and take the state to the next level.
“The governor had tamed the monster of insecurity because of his slogan of ‘give me peace and I would give you development’, adding that he was committed to ensuring the state maintained the prevailing peace,” he stressed.
However, Mr Kona, a former PDP state Chairman, denied that he was the anointed candidate to take over from the incumbent governor, “nobody has anointed me; it is only God that crowns leaders. You can see the calibre of people that are with me on this project, from all the local government areas of the state and the National Assembly members. This is to attest that I have support from across the state,” said Mr Kona.
” He added, “My campaign team is a combination of various professionals, business leaders and other stakeholders.”
He said it was zoning that produced the incumbent governor, adding that all the stakeholders were now clamouring that the position should be zoned to the north based on the local arrangement.
