TAX: AMAC Chairman issues Ultimatum to defaulters

The Abuja Municipal Area Council Chairman, Mr Christopher Zakka has issued a one-month ultimatum to tax defaulters to pay up or face the consequences of the law.
The Chairman issued the ultimatum while briefing Journalists in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Mr, Zakka who frowned at the attitude of some individuals towards tax payments also lamented the challenge of some staff who connive with some of the defaulters to deprive the council of such revenue for infrastructural developments.
He further cautioned those engaged  in such act to consider their payment as invalid and must pay the right amount like every other tax Payers in the city for the development of the council.
“The money you refused to pay is what we use to build infrastructure for our people in the rural areas. By refusimg to pay, you are  sabotaging the effort of AMAC which is affecting its revenue generation.
“We have provided designated account numbers essentially for the payment of taxes under the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, and we look forward to ensuring that we provide easy ways for our clients to pay their taxes without any hitches.
“We are also strengthening our security teams for proper prosecution of tax defaulters who prefer to connive with seme of our  staff to  sabotage  the efforts of the council in  generating expected revenue.”
The council also promised  to carry out a sensitisation campaign on the importance of tax payment in English, Hausa and Gbagyi langues for full compliance.
