The management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), led by the Executive Director of Transmission Service Provider (TSP), Oluwagbenga Ajiboye has conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Abuja Independent Power Plant Project Phase One in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The site visit was aimed at assessing the progress of the project, obtaining first-hand information on its generating capacity, commissioning timeline, and evacuation requirements for integration into the national grid.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for technical discussions between TCN engineers and the project contractor, strengthening coordination ahead of the December 2026 commissioning.
The power plant, being constructed by NNPC, will be powered by gas from the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline and is expected to deliver 350MW under Phase One of the project.
