Those who challenge Nigeria’s sovereignty will face consequences – Leader

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, says those with criminal intent who seek to challenge the nation’s sovereignty will face the consequences, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to combatting banditry and kidnapping.

The President stated this on Wednesday when he received in audience a delegation of Afenifere Group at the State House, Abuja.

He highlighted progress made so far in safeguarding Nigerian territory and sovereignty, noting a significant decline in the threat posed by terrorism saying that it has no further capacity to jeopardize the nation’s sovereignty.

“What we face now are the challenges of Terrorism and security of lives and property.

there is a need for development and good results and we have been battling. I can tell you that we are achieving success.

“There is an improvement from hoisting flags on the Nigerian properties and sovereignty, we have degraded terrorism to a level that they could not threaten the sovereignty of this country any longer.

“It is always hard to defeat economic opportunities that are open up in this type of challenge particularly when the country is equally challenged economically so the banditry kidnapping that they have resulted into will also be defeated” the President added.

The Nigerian Leader added that the expeditious release of the abducted Kuriga school children and other rescue interventions from Sokoto, katsina and Kaduna states are all evident in the rapid results of his administration towards tackling abductions.

“I declined any ransom, no payment of ransom whatsoever, we are taking the battle to them and we are getting results more rapidly than ever before, the case of Kuriga and others is evident in the way we rescue from Sokoto to Katsina to Kaduna and other now more expeditiously than ever before. 

“We are working hard on intelligent gathering and more on execution of our programs, those that think can threaten the sovereignty of this country will have themselves to blame, they have the price to pay and we are not going to relent” President Tinubu added.

The President assured that his administration is more ready than ever before to tackle terrorism, banditry and all other dimensions of criminality attracted by the solid Minerals through effective forest guards.

He said that the special forest guards recently deployed by the Federal government to protect the Nigerian Solid mineral sites will be fully in control of all forests across the country.

“Solid minerals that are attracting a lot of insecurities, scavenging and others, we have special forces that are facing that now, we will have an effective forest guards that will be fully in control of our forest in the country.”

Tackling Unemployment 

President Tinubu emphasized the necessity of tackling youth unemployment saying that his administration has outlined cardinal programs that will provide succour to parents and the youth.

“But first of all, we must tackle the desperation of our youths by following a cardinal program that will bring relief to the parents of our future leaders which is making education a tool and a strong weapon against poverty to do that we have to invest in the future of our youths. 

“In tackling a problem that parents are facing in paying the tuition fees of their wards, therefore we have established a student loan, we will nationally fund the student loan.”

In the  first visit of the Afenifere Group to the Nigerian seat of power since the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, His Royal Majesty Olu Abo of Ilu-Abo, Oba Olu Falae, assured President Tinubu of  the continued support of the Afenifere group home and abroad, he appreciated the President’s visit to Akure in Feb 2024 and said that the group is fully ready to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
