In Anambra State, South Eastern Nigeria, about 45 percent of the indigenes have become active traders as a result of the growing commerce activities in the State, the Association of traders in Bridgehead market has said.
The association attributed this economic growth to the state governor’s timely interventions in the areas of Security especially in trade and commerce centres, and Environmental Management.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of  the Association of traders in Bridgehead market, Chief Bonaventure Ucheagwu and its Secretary-General, Sir. Peter Okala, the Market leaders praised the governor, Chukwuma Soludo for the interventions which have made marketplaces a safe place for transactions.
According to the market leaders, governor Soludo’s introduction of made in Anambra household foot wear, clothing and vehicles has actually completed the cycle and brought answers to the ‘generation-to-quest think-home philosophy of the governor.
“The celebration of the timely desolation of about thirty markets and two markets whose leadership contradicts every acceptable procedure has boosted the moral of ordinary traders in Anambra State,” said the market leaders.
They, however, appealed to Governor Soludo to beam a search light on the President General of Anambra State Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA), Chief Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu who they alleged, is operating a paid campaign for election in to the various market associations in the state.

Soludo was a one time Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
