Traditional Ruler Calls For Continuous Cooperation With Army

The paramount ruler of Eleme, Oneh-Eh Alesa, His Royal Highness, Emere Emperor Nkpe Nkpe II JP has sued for the continuous support and cooperation with the Nigerian Army in his domain.

The royal father made the call on Wednesday as he led some members of his cabinet on a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander Joint Task Force (South South) Operation Delta Safe, Major General Jamal Abdussalam in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

A statement by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 6 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi said the royal father stated that the visit was expedient following the assumption of command of the General Officer Commanding as the 10th in the Division.

The Royal Father recalled the warm relations which members of his community have enjoyed over the years as a result of their close relationship with the army. He recalled the low rate of crime in the community as a result of the soldiers manning strategic national assets including the Eleme petrochemical refinery amongst others.

 

 

 

He pledged that the community will continue to go out of its way to make the stay of the men of the Nigerian Army comfortable in Eleme community even as he solicited for increased deployment of troops to meet up with the increased infrastructural development ongoing in the community.

He presented stickers which he produced in support of military operations within his community to help the army strengthen the sensitization of the public.

The General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam appreciated the royal father for the visit while expressing appreciation for the support of the royal father to the military operations, describing his gesture of poster and sticker donation as highly commendable.

He pledged the continuous support of the Division to the  community and urged the community not to relent in its support to the Nigerian Armed Forces.

He also appreciated the personal commitment of the efforts of the Oneh-Eh Alesa and pledged to reciprocate the visit to see things for himself.

Similarly, the Rivers State Government has pledged its continuous support to the Nigerian Army.


The pledge was made when the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division led some commanders on a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

The Governor complimented the Army for their role in the security architecture of the state, hinted at an expansion geared towards covering the nooks and crannies of the entire state.

He charged the Army to remain professional and apolitical, noting that peace and tranquility are the basis for development.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara called on the army to step up operations as the government was eager to equally deliver on its mandate to the people.

Earlier, the GOC stated that he was at the Government House to formerly inform the Governor of his assumption of command of the Division.

He appreciated the government of Rivers State for their support in operations and solicited for even greater cooperation going forward.

General Abdulsalam pledged the professionalism of the Army and improved support in the area of security while calling for the cooperation of the good people of Rivers State.
