Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, has formally resigned from his position, following a Presidential directive requiring political appointees seeking elective office to stand down.

His resignation, tendered to the Presidency, paves the way for him to contest for governor in the forthcoming elections.

In his letter of resignation, Senator Alkali expressed profound gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve, highlighting what he described as significant strides made within the transport sector during his tenure.

The President has since accepted the resignation and offered thanks for the Minister’s dedicated service to the nation.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement signed by Special Assistant for Media and Publicity to the Minister of Transportation, Umar Jibril.
