UBEC expends N10b yearly on teacher development

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) says it expends not less than N10 billion every year on teacher professional development.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, who stated this on Sunday in Abuja, appealed to stakeholders to join hands with Federal Government to improve the quality of teaching and learning at the basic level.

Bobboyi said despite the challenges that confronted 2020, occasioned by COVID-19, the Commission worked hard in many areas including support for the provision of e-learning and other responses to the pandemic.

According to the Bobboyi, UBEC’s 10 percent of the entire amount that is received from the Consolidated Revenue Fund is designated for Teacher Professional Development through the States Universal Basic Education Boards.”
