UBEC lauds Nasarawa Governor for Releasing Counterpart Funds

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has expressed its appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for his proactive step in releasing counterpart funds spanning from 2016 to 2023.

The new Zonal Director for North Central at UBEC, Elder Abalaka Edwin,  conveyed this commendation during his visit to the headquarters of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board in Lafia.

This visit underscores UBEC’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with various governmental agencies. Elder Abalaka specifically lauded Governor Sule for his unwavering commitment to fostering an enabling environment for the operations of UBEC’s North Central Zonal Office in Lafia.

The newly appointed Zonal Director for the North Central region of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) oversees operations in Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, Plateau, Niger, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

He emphasized that this visit serves to strengthen the existing relationship between the two agencies. Particularly noteworthy is the state governor’s commendable action in releasing counterpart funds from 2016 to 2023.

This has facilitated the initiation of contracts for constructing new classroom structures, providing instructional materials, and implementing intensive teacher development programs.

The Zonal Director expressed his satisfaction with the quality of staff at the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and assured the SUBEB Chairman of UBEC’s continuous collaboration for the advancement of the basic education sector in the state and across the nation.

“I have been posted to superintendent North Central Office to work together, fine tune the challenges and the way forward,” he said.

Elder Abalaka was joined on the familiarization visit by Pastor Kolade Adeleke, the agency’s Accountant, and Hajia Suliat Adebara, the Legal Officer.

In response, the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Muhammad Musa Dan’azimi, expressed gratitude to the Zonal Director for his visit. He reassured the board’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with the UBEC Zonal office to enhance the future of education in the state.

Dan’azimi highlighted Governor Abdullahi Sule’s visionary leadership and his dedication to releasing counterpart funds, which he described as an indispensable innovation in the state’s educational landscape.

He emphasised Governor Sule’s unwavering commitment to educational initiatives and reiterated the board’s full support for the agency’s endeavours.

The Executive Chairman extended his congratulations to the Zonal Director and his management team, wishing them divine guidance and protection in their endeavours.
