Ngannou (11-2) avenged his blowout loss to Miocic in 2018 by demonstrating everything he has learned in the ensuing three years during a dominant victory. The first UFC heavyweight champion from Africa flattened Miocic (21-3) twice early in the second, finishing the fight 52 seconds into the round.
In front of the watching Kourtney Kardashian and Megan Fox, Ngannou landed a huge right hand in the first and then stuffed a takedown – something which was a huge factor in the first fight
However, under the tutelage of Eric Nicksick, the Cameroonian looked composed and dangerous from the very first bell and hurt the champion.
It means a fight with former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones is a real possibility, with ‘Bones’ moving up to heavyweight after a successful career at 205lbs.
And it seems Ngannou is ready for that next challenge.
“In my opinion, Jon Jones is the greatest of all time from mixed martial arts,” he said in the aftermath of his win.
“Him moving up is going to be a good thing. He’s going to be a challenge that I will take and I will put it on record. It will be a very good thing on my resume.”
“But this time he is gonna be the challenger, I am the champ. I am ready. Any time soon. Whenever they are ready, I am ready.”
