According to Spanish media outlet, Fichajes, Manchester United are seriously pondering a January move for Nigeria international, Umar Sadiq, as they hope to get their 2023/24 season back on track.

It has not been the best of time for the English Premier League giants who find themselves occupying the 10th position on the log despite their hard-fought win over Brentford on Saturday.

The Red Devils have had a challenging start to the 2023/24 season, with four defeats in their first eight Premier League matches and no wins in the UEFA Champions League campaign.

In a bid to regain their form in the second half of the season, the Old Trafford outfits have set their eyes on the Nigerian striker.

“Manchester United finds itself in an unusual situation at the start of the season, occupying tenth place in the Premier League standings, a scenario that has triggered the need to look for immediate solutions to improve its offensive performance. In this context, the English club has focused its attention on Umar Sadiq, Real Sociedad forward,” the website wrote.

“Although Sadiq Umar has yet to score goals this season with Real Sociedad, Manchester United sees him as an almost sure bet to strengthen their attack. It is important to note that the Nigerian striker had a last season marked by injuries, which has influenced his current performance. However, his record at Almería is impressive, having scored 43 goals and provided 13 assists in 84 games, highlighting his ability to be effective on the attacking front.

“Manchester United are looking to regain their form in the second half of the season, and Umar’s effectiveness could be a key element in this task. The operation is being considered for the winter transfer market, and the English club is willing to take quick measures to secure the arrival of the Nigerian striker.”

The idea of moving to Old Trafford will surely be welcomed by Sadiq having struggled to claim a starting berth in the Sociedad’s squad. The Nigerian has fallen in the pecking order with Mikel Oyarzabal and Ander Barrenetxea ahead of the Nigerian.
