Voting ends in Lokoja, Kogi State

Voting has ended in some polling units in Lokoja the Kogi State capital and sorting of ballot papers has begun.

Voting started at about 8:45 local time, with security agents on the ground to ensure peaceful conduct.

Though there were challenges with the BVas machines, they were rectified and voting went on smoothly.

Speaking with Voice of Nigeria at the Lokoja cantonment ward Mr Yakubu Aminu said “The election was peaceful and the issue of money politics has drastically reduced. People are more aware of the electoral process and conduct themselves well.”

Also Mr Umar Zulkanene of Ward B, cantonment said Election was peaceful, security agents were on the ground and everything went calm. This election is the best so far in the history of Nigeria. No giving of money(vote buying). The cashless policy is good for this election.”

Similarly, Mr Adamu Isah said This election has eradicated a lot of things about irregularities in voting. The cashless policy has stopped vote buying and the BVas machines have helped in showing maturity in how we cast our vote.”

Most voters are waiting at the polling units for the votes to be sorted and counted.
