Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Bouake, Cote D’Ivoire to cheer the Super Eagles of Nigeria to victory as they slug it out with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Vice President departed Abuja, Nigeria’s capital on Wednesday afternoon on the instructions of President Bola Tinubu, to boost the morale of the Nigerian national team.

The Super Eagles had qualified for the semis on Friday February 2, when they defeated Angola by a lone goal in the quarter finals.

Before then, the Super eagles finished second in group ‘A’ behind Equatorial Guinea.

It is expected that the presence of the Vice President at the venue of the match, Stadium de la Paix in Bouake, will spur the Super Eagles to qualify for the finals of the competition.

Nigeria’s dream is to win the coveted trophy for the fourth time, having won it in 1980, 1994 and 2013.

Before now, Nigeria and South Africa have met 14 times in different competitions, with Nigeria winning seven times, South Africa won twice and five of the matches ended in draws.
