We will provide wheat requirement in Nigeria – Governor

Jigawa State Governor in North West Nigeria Umar Namadi has expressed the readiness of the state to produce 40 percent of wheat demand of Nigeria.

The Governor made this known when he played host the Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris and his entourage in Dutse, headquarters of the state.

He informed the Minister that already, more than 55,000 hectares of wheat have been cultivated by famers in Jigawa state which will significantly boost food security in the country.

Governor Namadi said, if the support giving to wheat famers in Jigawa is sustained and expanded, Nigeria will achieve food security.

He said that, the Jigawa government is committed to expand and also explore in rice farming with an estimated cultivation of 100,000 hectares.

“In Jigawa state we are more committed to support Mr President to achieve food security Policies in Nigeria.

Today we are number one in wheat farming number one in sesame seed, number one in hibiscuss and we are number one in gum Arabic.”

Governor Namadi informed the Minister that Jigawa state government has already integrated it’s 12 agenda policies into the President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda for an all encompassing development.

He noted the Jigawa state people have embraced Tinubu’s food security Policies aimed at ensuring food sufficiency.

He expressed the commitment to develop and expand the entire Agricultural value chain in Jigawa state as doing so will help not only in food security but also in job creation.

Governor Namadi informed the Minister of various reforms introduced to improve Education, health care system and empowerment programmes.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris
described Jigawa state as a leading light to Agriculture in Nigeria.

He said, he was in the state to see the dry season wheat farming programmes in state as well as interact with farmers to explore more opportunities.

“We view your Gov as an epitome of development, Agricultural transformation with people oriented programmes.”

He further said he was in the state to also meet and engage with people of the state on issues surrounding the administration of President Bola Tinubu and asked people to be patient with the president’s policies.

The Minister noted that, “the government will continue to support sub-national Governments to improve quality of lives of the people.”

“Jigawa central to food security of the federal government.”

He informed the Governor of various intervention programs put in place to alleviate sufferings caused by the fuel subsidy removal.

Among them was the N1b naira palliative approval to support the people of Jigawa state.

The Minister of information was also at the palace of Emir of Dutse and informed the royal father of government’s plans to improve lives.

The Emir of Dutse Hamim Nuhu Mohammed Sanusi decried the limit of patriotism in the hearts of Nigerians describing it as a factor affecting the country.

He Urged the ministry of information to work on patriotism of Nigerians.

The Emir also, decried the inconsistencies in government slogans as a factor affecting development.

He called on the Minister through the Director General NTA to look into the challenges affecting smooth operations of the three NTA stations located in Jigawa state as some of the transmitters were obsolete.

He said, Jigawa has a lot to offer in the food security Policies of Nigeria and Development as whole.
