Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu has reiterated the country’s unwavering commitment to economic growth, development, and stability.
Mrs Tinubu made this known during a private visit to former heads of state, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their residence in Minna, Niger State.
During the visit, Mrs Tinubu acknowledged the statesmanship and invaluable contributions of the two elder statesmen, particularly their ‘fatherly roles in fostering peace and unity during the 2023 presidential election.’

National policies
The wife of President Tinubu emphasised the importance of their guidance in shaping national policies and commended their continued dedication to the country’s progress.
She also noted that their influence helped Nigerians better understand the necessity of subsidy removal, a critical economic reform aimed at long-term national development.
According to her, “such sacrifices are essential for ensuring a more sustainable and prosperous future for all citizens.”
In response, General Abdulsalami Abubakar welcomed the First Lady’s visit and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Nigeria’s growth and stability.
He commended her for recognising the roles played by past leaders and encouraged continued dialogue between the government and elder statesmen for the nation’s benefit.
Senator Tinubu was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, along with other top government officials.
