The World Bank Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes Project (ACReSAL) is soon to take off in 19 Northern States of Nigeria.

This was the discourse topic at the just concluded pre-launch mission of the ACReSAL project.

The event was hosted by Barr. Sharon Ikeazor, the Honourable Minister of State for Environment and chaired by the Honourable Minister of Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi.

Abdullahi assured partners of the ACReSAL project of the Nigerian Government’s political will to drive the programme to support the 19 Northern States of the country.

“…promote dry land management, community climate resilience and institutional strengthening and project supervision and management by integrating strategic watershed planning, landscape investments and special ecosystems management; promoting community engagement and investments.

“States as partners will be co-ordinated via technical assistance and implementation support,” said Abdullahi.

The World Bank ACReSAL project’s primary objective is to increase the implementation of sustainable landscape management practices in targeted watersheds in northern Nigeria and strengthen Nigeria’s long-term enabling environment for integrated climate-resilient landscape management.
