Xi Calls for Faster Rural, Agricultural Modernization

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for stronger efforts to modernise agriculture and promote rural development during an inspection tour of Dezhou in east China’s Shandong Province.

Xi urged authorities to improve agricultural productivity, quality and efficiency, ensure a stable supply of key farm products, especially grains, and build beautiful, livable rural communities suited to local conditions.

He also encouraged farmers to improve their lives through hard work and innovation.

During visits to Dongyujia and Xiyujia villages, Xi inspected farmland, met grain growers, machinery operators and agricultural experts, and reviewed local agricultural products.

He stressed that ensuring stable grain production remains the country’s top agricultural priority, calling for the effective implementation of grain support policies, improved agricultural infrastructure, and stronger disaster prevention and relief measures.

Xi also emphasised strengthening grassroots Party organisations, improving public services, and addressing the needs of rural families.

While meeting with villagers, he said “Party officials must focus on improving people’s well-being and resolving their challenges.”

“We are about to celebrate the 105th birthday of the Party as July 1 approaches,” Xi said.

“As we are marching on the new journey of building China into a modern socialist country in all respects, we must work together and keep up our stride on the new Long March to create a brighter future and continuously meet the people’s aspirations for a better life,” he said.
