The Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS) has passed a vote of confidence in the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and the Permanent Secretary, Dr Maryam Ismaila Kensinro, following a recent staff protest at the ministry.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, CYMS Director General Chief Obinna Nwaka commended the duo for their leadership, reforms, and dedication to advancing women’s empowerment, tackling gender-based violence, and upholding Nigeria’s commitments to international conventions.

While acknowledging the concerns raised by protesting staff, Nwaka urged the ministry workers to embrace dialogue. “Protests may amplify voices, but dialogue builds lasting solutions,” he said, calling for cooperation between management and staff.

He reaffirmed CYMS’ support for the ministry’s leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasising the importance of strong institutions in achieving Nigeria’s social development goals.
