The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has unanimously ratified the expulsion of Mr. Uzokwe Ifeanyi Peter, who represents Nnewi, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The decision was taken at the party’s 24th Extraordinary Meeting, after extensive
deliberations on matters concerning the growth, unity and progress of the party and the nation at large.

The expulsion follows multiple petitions and verified video evidence of anti-party activities constituting gross misconduct in violation of the Party’s Constitution, particularly Section 36(7), Article (b, f & o), pages 70 and 71, which clearly outline offences and sanctions.

The NEC reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy for acts that undermine party unity, discipline, and cohesion.

The NEC elected some officers to fill existing vacancies within the National Executive structure of the party.

The NEC also commended the recent appointment of retired General Christopher Musa as the Minister of Defence.

According to the communiqué, “The appointment is viewed as a round peg in a round hole and aligns with our consistent advocacy that matters of national security should never be politicised.”

The party reiterates that strategic security positions must be entrusted to capable professionals rather than offered as tools of political patronage.

In conclusion, the NEC reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy, national development and the defence of Nigeria’s democratic space under the banner of “United We Stand.”
