Zamfara state Governor orders pumping of water to residents
Zamfara state governor, Dauda Lawal has ordered the state water board to commence the pumping of water to residents of Gusau, the state capital, with immediate effect.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Muktar Lugga made the disclosure in Gusau on Tuesday, that the governor had earlier directed the repair of some facilities by the board.
“The board has been directed to start supplying water right away.
“The governor is deeply concerned about the perennial water shortage been faced by the people of Gusau and environs.
“This necessitated an unscheduled visit to the state water board facilities that gave insight into the problems bedeviling the issue of water supply to the public.
“The governor directed my office to liaise with the management of the state water board in order to ensure immediate supply of water to the people of Gusau and environs,” Lugga said.
He assured residents that pumping and supply of water to some areas of Gusau will resume immediately.
“The government is coming out with a roadmap towards bring permanent solution through expansion and upgrading of the water system,” the chief of staff added.
