The 13 Brigade Nigerian Army has emerged overall winner of the 82 Division Inter-Brigade Warrant and Senior Non-Commissioned officers competition 2021 held in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, South-south Nigeria.
The competition which was one of the Army’s capacity building programmes to enshrine professionalism in personnel for the accomplishment of assigned mission, featured exercises such as drills, weapons handling, map reading, obstacle crossing, combat swimming and a 10-kilometre combat run.
At the end of the competition, 13 Brigade Calabar came first, 14 Brigade Ohafia was placed second on the medals table, 82 Division Garrison won third position while 44 Engineering Battalion got the fourth place medal.
Sportsmanship
The General Officer Commanding GOC 82 Division, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja commended the formations for the team spirit, regimentation and display of sportsmanship during the five days competition.
Lagbaja expressed satisfaction with the “passion, doggedness, dexterity, skills and professionalism of all the participants in the different exercises.”
Represented by Commander Artillery Training School, Brigadier General Frank Etim, the GOC further stated that “the area of observed weaknesses will be strengthened and those areas of strength would be consolidated upon.”
The Commander 13 brigade, major general Peter Malla said the division would continue to pursue its training schedules in order to perfect on current tactics.
“You have done your beat, however know that the discipline, perseverance and professionalism you displayed is commendable and acknowledged”, he said.
The Warrant and Senior Non-Commissioned officers were urged not to intensify their preparations for future competitions as representatives of 82 Division.
