Ahead of the defence of the FIBA Afrobasket Women’s Championship billed for Rwanda, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced plans to hold open trials in an effort to pick the best players.

“This is part of its plans to further encourage the development of the game in Nigeria and also increase its talent pool,” NBBF said.

The NBBF led by Ahmadu Musa Kida revealed this stating it’s plans to organise open tryouts for Nigerian female basketball players in the United States of America and Nigeria, respectively.

According to a release signed by the Secretary-General, Peter Njoku, the tryouts is to invite and encourage, fit and properly motivated athletes who will ultimately represent Nigeria and be a part of the elite D’Tigress team.

The tryouts in the USA will be held in Wallace, Chicago on July 8-9, while July 10-11 would be dates for the Nigerian tryouts in Lagos and Abuja respectively.

Interested female basketball players are advised to register by clicking the link in the Bio or scanning the QR code on the flyers, which are now out in the public domain.
