Kwara Gov, IEDPU Salute players coaching crew , sports commission, supporters club.
The Kwara State Governor, and Chairman Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq says he is overwhelmed with joy as I joined Harmony Boys of Kwara United to bring home the 2025 President Federation Cup — the first time any team from our state has ever won the prestigious trophy since 1967 when Kwara was created.
According to a statement he personally signed, the governor said he wholeheartedly salute the players, the coaching crew, the management of Kwara United, the Sports Commission, and the supporters’ club for this remarkable feat stressing that he is particularly grateful to the people of our state, including Kwarans in Diaspora, for their overwhelming support for the team.
He added that the win again testifies to the power of team spirit, discipline, determination, and grit.

Abdulrazaq stressed further that the victory of the Harmony Boys over the Abakaliki FC comes on the heels of yet another win as our contingent to the Senior President Debate Competition has emerged the national champion for the first time ever.
“This victory is not a coincidence. For three unbroken editions, our pupils under the State Universal Basic Education have remained the national champions in the President School Debate Competition. I commend the Kwara contingents that have made us proud” he added.
According to him, all of these go to show that our feats in different aspects are not a flash in the pan, but are deserving fruits of hard work and strategic investments in youth development, sports, education, and other key sectors of the economy.
Abdulrazaq also congratulated all Kwarans home and abroad on these achievements as the government said he looked forward to keeping the state in positive spotlights in Nigeria and across the world.
IEDPU congratulates Kwara United, AbdulRazaq on Confederation Cup victory.
In a related development, the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, has rejoiced with Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin for winning the 2025 edition of the Confederation Cup. He also congratulated the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, for the record-breaking victory.
In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Nurudeen Ibrahim, the Union explained that the victory is a watershed in the football history of the state.
Alhaji Abdulmalik recalled that despite producing several great soccer stars and sides in the past, the state couldn’t win the coveted trophy.
The President thanked the people and friends of Kwara State for generously supporting the club’s aspiration to emerge as the nation’s champions, recalling that the closest to the record was the appearance in the finals of the 1976 Challenge Cup by the defunct Aliyufsalam Rocks Football Club of Ilorin.
Alhaji Abdulmalik, therefore, charged Kwara State Government to continue to implement policies that would ensure that more sporting talents are discovered and helped to grow for more trophies to be won for the state.
