The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced exclusive discounts for Nigerian pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj, following successful negotiations during its recent preparatory visit to Saudi Arabia.
The initiative, which will reduce service costs by ₦200,000 per pilgrim, is part of efforts to make the sacred journey more affordable and efficient.
Following the return of NAHCON’s management team from their preliminary visit to Saudi Arabia, the Commission has commenced early preparations to ensure a seamless and well-organised 2026 Hajj operation.
Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, daid this while briefing journalists in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria, on the Commission’s achievements and ongoing plans ahead of the forthcoming Hajj.
He described the recent visit to Saudi Arabia as highly successful, emphasising its significance in improving the quality of services offered to Nigerian pilgrims.
According to him, “one of the key outcomes of the visit was the successful negotiation that led to a reduction of N200,000 per pilgrim in service charges.”
“This aligns with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and demonstrates NAHCON’s commitment to making Hajj more affordable for Nigerian Muslims,” Professor Usman stated.
He explained that the trip was undertaken to secure improved service arrangements and initiate early preparations for the next Hajj operation.
Bold steps
He said the Commission took bold steps in its negotiations with Saudi partners and Nigerian stakeholders to reduce costs, enhance service delivery, and improve the overall experience for pilgrims.
Professor Usman further said that “NAHCON has finalised key service agreements, including the Masha’ir services contract with Mashariq Zahbiyya Company and the transportation contract with Dalilil Ma’alim Company.”
“Both companies were carefully selected for their efficiency and strong performance record in previous pilgrim operations,” he noted.
On preparations in Medina, the NAHCON Chairman announced that the Commission had also concluded contracts for accommodation and catering services, successfully securing high-quality hotels in the Markaziyya area at competitive rates.
He further affirmed that NAHCON has strengthened its collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, building on insights gained from the experiences of the 2025 Hajj operations.
In line with its commitment to early and efficient preparations, NAHCON has also inaugurated the 2026 Hajj Tour Operators Screening Committee.
The committee will ensure that only qualified and compliant tour operators are authorised to serve Nigerian pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj.
