Adamawa Governor condoles with NUJ on death of VOA’s Ibrahim Abdulaziz

The Adamawa State Governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has offered his heartfelt condolences to the Adamawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists over the demise of Mr. Ibrahim Abdulaziz of the Voice of America.

Abdulaziz died on Friday, February 5, 2021 in a car crash along Gombe Bauchi road.

The late Abdulaziz was a versatile journalist, who before the unfortunate auto crash that claimed his life, had worked with various media organisations, the Voice of America Hausa service, Premium Times, Daily Trust and Blueprint Newspapers.

He also worked with the New Telegraph Newspaper, FRCN Fombina FM, as well as Gotel Communications.

Governor Fintiri expressed his personal condolences, to the Government and the entire people of Adamawa State to NUJ, the family of the deceased and his close associates.

 “Abdulaziz’ death is coming at a time when the Media Industry can benefit more from his wealth of experience,” Governor Fintiri said.

He urged the family to draw courage and strength from Allah at this trying moment.

 “I am deeply saddened by the news of the demise of Ibrahim Abdulaziz at a time his contributions are needed to engender development in the State,” said Governor Fintiri.

While describing as sad and devastating the loss of the great journalist, Governor Fintiri pointed out that though very painful, one has to take solace in God and appreciate him for the life well spent

He prayed Allah would grant the deceased Jannatul Firdaus and the family, the fortitude to bear the loss.

In the meantime, the Adamawa State NUJ had directed all chapels of the union in the state to suspend union activities in honour of the late veteran.

A statement signed by the union’s Secretary, Mr. Fidelis Jockthan, said burial arrangements had been scheduled for Saturday, 6th February, 2021 in Yola, Adamawa State, after conveying the body from  Bauchi.
