Agbani Darego celebrates 20th Anniversary of Miss World Victory

Nigerian ex-beauty queen, Agbani Darego, has marked the 20th anniversary of her emergence as Miss World Beauty Queen.

On her Instagram page on Tuesday, she shared the video of the ceremony where she was crowned Miss World 20 years ago and shared how grateful she has been for the experience.

“20 years today! Forever thankful for the experience @missworld,” she said in the post.

Agbani broke into global consciousness when she became the first native African to win the Miss World beauty pageant in 2001.

Earlier, she had won national beauty pageants such as Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria.

She also placed in the top ten, taking seventh place at the Miss Universe competition, becoming the first Nigerian to place among the top 10 semi-finalists.

Agabni represented Nigeria at Miss World 2001 on 16th November 2001 at the Super Bowl of Sun City Entertainment Centre in Sun City, South Africa. She was the first indigenous African to win Miss World.
