The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has commenced its two-days interactive session on government-citizen engagement by welcoming esteemed guests including government officials, elder statesmen, and representatives from various organisations to the historic Arewa House in Kaduna.

In his address, the Director-General of the Foundation, Abubakar Umar expressed his gratitude to the participants, highlighting the significance of the event and its goal of fostering constructive dialogue between government and its citizens.

Thanked everyone

He acknowledged the delays leading up to the session and thanked everyone for their patience.

Giving a remark, he said that “This event marks a crucial opportunity to reflect on the progress made during the first two years of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, assess ongoing policies, and strengthen the bond between the government and the governed.”

Reiterating the Foundation’s commitment to quality leadership and national development, Umar emphasised that the interactive session was designed to promote mutual understanding rather than confrontation.

Our goal is to deepen democracy, enhance good governance, and improve service delivery to our people, “he stated.

The event underscores the Foundation’s non-partisan approach, aimed at providing a neutral platform for dialogue.

Harnessing opportunities

Umar highlighted the importance of open and respectful communication in addressing challenges and harnessing opportunities for a united Nigeria.

As the sessions unfold for two days, participants are engaging in discussions aimed at yielding actionable insights for strengthening government-citizen partnerships.

The Foundation believes that by working together, they can overcome obstacles and foster a brighter future for the region and the country.

The opening ceremony set a positive tone for the event, with calls for collaboration echoing through the hall, as stakeholders joined forces to advance the principles of unity, peace, and development for Nigeria.

The interactive session is expected to yield fruitful discussions and pave the way for more effective governance in the Northern region and beyond.
