A key contender under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA),  Chief Akai Egwuonwu, has reaffirmed the significance of his “Social Contract” with the constituents, promising to uphold it tenaciously as the by-election for Anambra South Senatorial zone draws near.

At a recent gathering to welcome APGA’s National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, Egwuonwu emphasised his commitment to quality representation in the Senate, particularly in light of the party’s recent Supreme Court victory which validated Ezeokenwa’s leadership.
The event which was attended by prominent party officials and stakeholders including Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, celebrated the party’s newfound momentum in national politics.
Egwuonwu outlined a comprehensive vision centered around five pillars: economic transformation, social agenda, value system, quality representation, and environmental sustainability.
He aims to turn Anambra South into a thriving industrial-tech hub and a center for leisure.
Empower local businesses
Drawing on his success in the private sector, he seeks to empower local businesses to create thousands of jobs annually for the youth and nurture a new generation of millionaires to combat poverty.
In his social agenda, Egwuonwu said he is particularly focused on enhancing education and healthcare, with plans to integrate the history of Anambra South into school curricula while advocating for improved infrastructure in both public and private educational institutions.
He emphasised the importance of a safe and healthy environment for sustainable development, indicating plans to address environmental challenges, particularly the erosion issues threatening farmland and residential areas.
Reiterating his commitment to transparency and accountability, Egwuonwu stated, “I’m going to the Senate to make a difference. It’s not going to be business as usual.”
He urged the people of Anambra South to hold him accountable to his promises, asserting that integrity will guide his tenure.
With his eyes set on the Senate, Egwuonwu expressed confidence that his principled approach to leadership and governance will set him apart from other politicians, promising a departure from the common narrative of “promise and fail.
