A Non Governmental Organization, “The Access Nigeria:Disability Votes Matter Campaign” has called on the National Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure provision of all necessary welfare intervention materials to guarantee effective participation of people living with disabilities during the poll.

The Executive Director of the Group,Grace Jerry, who made the plea in Awka during a News Conference, urged INEC to fully enforce its policy of priority voting for PWDs,  to  enable they don’t queue for long hours as witnessed in previous polls.

INEC should also provide other PWD_friendly election materials including the Election Day written instructions and magnifying glasses.” She urged all registered PWDs to come out and vote for candidates of their choice, adding that they should take safety precautions by leaving voting places when they notice any danger to their lives.

” We are making a special appeal on behalf of the 200 observers with disabilities that we will be deploying on election day. The Access Nigeria Campaign and PWDs in Anambra State are deeply concerned about security ahead of the election and call for special protection for voters and observers with disabilities” Jerry added.
