A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a governorship  aspirant in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has appreciated President Bola Tinubu for the recent appointments of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Mark Okoye as Managing Director of the South-East Development Commission.

He emphasised that these appointments should be viewed as wins for the South-East, regardless of political affiliations.

During an interactive session with journalists at in Anambra East Local Government Area, Chukwuma cited the alarming rise in crime, leaving residents in a state of perpetual fear and jeopardizing businesses and livelihoods.

He voiced strong criticisms of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s management of security in the state.

“The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of life and property, yet Anambra is becoming increasingly unsafe. We live in an environment of fear. Every day, people are kidnapped, killed, and maimed. The freedom we are used to is diminishing,” he said

Chukwuma pinpointed the failure of the Soludo administration to address these critical issues.

He says, “Insecurity in Anambra is becoming very challenging. Farmers are afraid to go to their fields, and investors are being kidnapped on a daily basis. The situation has deteriorated to the point where many are fearful of returning home for the upcoming Christmas celebrations.”

He urged the state government to take decisive action to address security concerns, highlighting the need for transparency regarding the allocation and management of the state’s security votes.

“People should question the governor about how these funds are being used. There is no evidence that he is supporting security agencies adequately. We have not seen vehicles provided to the police, and all we receive in return are empty promises,” he said.

Looking to the future, Chukwuma pledged a commitment to addressing not just insecurity, but also the various infrastructural and socio-economic challenges facing Anambra State.

He expressed his intentions to create an all-inclusive government that prioritises the well-being of all citizens.

“I believe that APC, under my leadership as governor, can effectively tackle these challenges,” he affirmed.

He appealed to the media for support in the fight against insecurity, stressing the urgent need for action to secure the safety and prosperity of the people of Anambra State people.
