The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed profound gratitude for the unprecedented support his administration has garnered from the citizenry.

Addressing a massive crowd of over 120,000 members from 60 support groups organised under the All Soludo Support Groups (ASSG), the Governor emphasized that never before in the state’s history has a leader enjoyed such extensive backing.

The solidarity rally took place at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Awka on Thursday, where Governor Soludo was presented with a substantial donation of thirty million naira from the support groups.

Developmental strides

In his address, he described the overwhelming backing as humbling and a testament to the visible developmental strides achieved during his tenure.

The feedback I’m receiving from all 21 local government areas indicates that when the people receive good service, it translates into political capital,” he remarked.

You’re about to see even more good things ahead.”

Unserious contenders

Soludo dismissed the governorship aspirants from other political parties, characterising them as unserious contenders in the upcoming November 8 gubernatorial election.

Most of the political parties don’t have credible candidates, except for one party where aspirants appear to be competing merely for visibility to gain appointments,” he stated.

The serious candidates have recognised that there is truly no vacancy.”

He noted a remarkable trend of support merging among opposition parties, stating, “The PDP has folded into APGA, as have the YPP. The Labour Party has become nonexistent, as it was initially formed by our members during a turbulent period, but now they are all returning home.”

Soludo highlighted the historical significance of the upcoming election, asserting, “For the first time in Anambra’s history, there is going to be a consensus governorship election. This kind of collective support from civil societies, the church, traditional institutions, women, and youth is unprecedented.”

The Governor acknowledged the sacrifices made by the various support groups, sharing an emotional moment as he recollected the journey of his administration. “When I see this crowd, I am reminded of our beginnings, and I feel overwhelmed with emotion. The light of the nation, Anambra State, is indeed on the rise.”

Soludo expressed his gratitude to the individuals and groups who, independently, have contributed to his campaign efforts, even sharing personal anecdotes of students and women traders pooling together small amounts to encourage his continued leadership.

Their sacrifices and unwavering support are touching. I assure you that we will not disappoint the trust you have placed in us.”

As the election approaches, the Governor reiterated his commitment to the vision of “One State, One People, One Agenda,” asserting that he will uphold the mandate bestowed upon him as he continues to pursue development initiatives that uplift the people of Anambra.”

Speaking on behalf of the support groups, prominent figures like Dr Obi Ogbolu ( the special adviser to Governor Soludo on political matters) Mr. Chinedu Nwoye, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, and Mrs. Ify Obi expressed their readiness to back Soludo’s bid for re-election.

He confirmed that their support is organic and driven by a shared commitment to the welfare of the people of Anambra.
