Local government workers across Anambra State have pledged their support for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election, affirming their commitment to continuity and sustained development ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.

The endorsement was made during the 2025 Anambra Local Government Service Commission Week, held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka.

The event drew staff from all 21 local government areas and featured a strong show of solidarity for the governor, who was lauded for his reforms and investments in grassroots governance.

The Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission,  Vin-Ifeanyi Ezeaka, praised the dedication and unity of the workforce.

He emphasised their vital role in grassroots development and described the gathering as an opportunity to collectively commend the governor’s leadership and back his second-term ambitions.

The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Pro-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

Speaking on the theme, “Enhancing Effective Service Delivery in the Local Government System: The Solution Agenda,” Professor Odinkalu commended the coordination among local government staff and called for greater professionalism, innovation, and adherence to core cultural values.

He also underscored the importance of educating younger generations about traditional principles of governance and community service.

Governor Soludo, addressing the gathering, described local government workers as “the lifeline of government” and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving their welfare.

He unveiled plans to digitalize local government operations, highlighting the need for modern tools and skilled personnel to enhance service delivery. “Everything technology, technology everywhere,” he said, reiterating his administration’s development mantra.

Chairman of the Planning Committee, Azubuike Okoye expressed satisfaction with the success of the event.

He credited the groundswell of support for the governor to what he described as “transformational leadership” over the past three years.

Soludo is the best governor Anambra has ever had,” he stated, calling on Ndi Anambra to deepen their grassroots mobilization efforts and remain united behind the administration’s agenda.

Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim, who later represented Governor Soludo at the event, also addressed participants.

He reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to continue driving local government reforms and empowering communities across the state.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of an award to Mrs. Rita Chike-Obuekwe, Head of Local Government Administration in Awka South LGA and State Woman Leader, in recognition of her outstanding service.

In her acceptance remarks, she expressed appreciation to the Commission and pledged continued dedication to advancing good governance and public service.

Other dignitaries in attendance included Prince Chinedu Okafor, Mayor of Awka South, and Rt. Capt. Casmir Nwafor of Orumba North Council Area, both of whom reiterated their support for Soludo’s re-election and their commitment to building productive, citizen-focused local governments.
