Anambra State Police Command has taken delivery of a truckload of anti-riot equipment and materials procured by the Inspector General of Police for maintenance of law and order in the state.
According to press release by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, the truck arrived on Thursday.
Ikenga also stated that the new Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Rudolf Obe Echebi, on Thursday, assumed duty as AIG, election for Anambra and Enugu States Commands, which makes up Zone 13 with Headquarters at Ukpo Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Echebi also visited the Headquarters of Anambra State Police Command where he reviewed security arrangements for State House of Assembly Election scheduled for Saturday. He also visite the Enugu state command to ascertain the level of preparedness.
The Commissioner of Police, election, for Anambra State briefed the AIG on programmes lined up to carry all stakeholders along to ensure peace especially after the election.
Other senior officers deployed to Anambra Command include DCP Johnson Adenola – Anambra South; DCP Polycarp Emeka – Anambra Central and DCP Yusuf Ajape – Anambra North Senatorial Districts respectively.
