AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections held on Saturday in Abuja.
The governor commended residents of the FCT for their peaceful participation in the democratic process and for supporting candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor AbdulRazaq made the remarks while addressing journalists at the APC Situation Room shortly after the conclusion of voting across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
He also appreciated Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for their support and commitment to strengthening democratic governance at the grassroots level.
According to him, the party’s performance at the polls reflects public confidence in its leadership and growing acceptance among the electorate.
The APC secured five of the six chairmanship seats contested in the FCT Area Council elections, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won one seat.
Governor AbdulRazaq served as Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the 2026 FCT Area Council Elections. He was supported by Governors Hope Uzodimma, Mai Mala Buni, and Mohammed Umar Bago, among other key stakeholders.
The elections were conducted peacefully across the councils, underscoring the continued commitment of stakeholders to democratic values and credible electoral processes in the Federal Capital Territory.
