Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, the Environment and Sanitation Sub-Committee of the convention has held a road walk.

The walk, organised by the Environment and Sanitation Sub-committee of the convention planning team tagged, “Let’s Go Green” saw the party stalwarts walk the streets of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Led by the Governor of Kogi State and Committee Chairman, Mr. Ahmed Usman Ododo, the exercise served as both a physical demonstration of party vitality and a policy statement on the global climate change agenda.

The Chairman of the Central Coordination Committee for the APC 2026 National Convention, Mr. Aminu Masari, said the event symbolised the party’s preparedness not only for the convention, but also for the 2027 polls.

“This exercise demonstrates that the APC is ready, not just for the convention coming up this Saturday, but also for the 2027 elections. We are confident of victory,” Mr. Masari said.

In his remarks, co-chairman of the Convention Environment and Sanitation Sub-committee and former Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade, said that the walk reflected the party’s capacity to organise a hitch-free convention.

“What we have done today shows that we have the capacity, energy, and organisation to deliver a peaceful and successful convention. The APC is repositioning itself with a clear agenda for Nigerians,” Profesor Ayade said.

He also expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the ongoing reforms which are expected to yield positive results.

“The President has shown courage and commitment. As the benefits of these reforms begin to manifest, Nigerians will appreciate the direction of this administration,” he stated.

Professor Ayade also said that the walk proved the party possesses the “capacity, energy and vitality” required to conduct a peaceful and successful convention.

He stressed that the APC was currently “repositioning and reloading” with a focus on a people-centered agenda.

On his part, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara said that the party’s leadership chose to prioritise the environment to align Nigeria’s ruling party with the global agenda on climate change.

He also said that the convention would provide a critical platform for the party to engage with the public.

“As far as I am concerned, this convention has offered us the opportunity not only to showcase what the party can do but to render an account of our stewardship to the teeming populace,” Mr. Dogara said.

He also called for patience with current government reforms.

Similarly, the Secretary of the APC Convention Environment and Sanitation Sub-committee, Senator Uche Ekwunife, commended participants for their turnout, describing it as a strong signal of unity and readiness.

“This walk sends a clear message that the APC is prepared, not just for the convention, but for the 2027 elections. We are confident of victory,” she said.

She expressed confidence in the party’s future, predicting a “landslide” victory in 2027.

She commended the Chairman of the Convention Central Coordination Committee, Mr. Aminu Bello Masari, for the opportunity to serve, asserting that the APC is not just “green” but fully prepared to return President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to office.
