April Fool: Davido dismisses rumors of arrest

Nigerian megastar Davido, also known as David Adeleke, has refuted rumors suggesting he was arrested during a music tour in East Africa on April 1st, 2024.

The singer emphasized the significance of addressing the false rumors that circulated across various online platforms on April 1st, especially after receiving numerous calls from concerned fans and well-wishers confirming his safety.

However, he asserted that throughout his career, he has never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime worldwide.

Reports surfaced from multiple online sources on Monday, April 1st, 2024, claiming that the singer was arrested in East Africa.

 

Davido, reacting in a statement released via his X handle on Tuesday, confirmed that he was not arrested and explained that contrary to reports, he had a successful tour in Kenya and Uganda, and he has now returned to Nigeria.

In the statement tagged ‘Setting record straight on false arrest report’, the singer vehemently condemned the rumours and called it extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’ celebration.

He subsequently pledged to pursue legal action against those responsible for fabricating the rumors.

The statement reads in part: “I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation.”
