Army Chief charges cadets to choose the path of honour

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Farouk Yahaya, has charged the Passing Out Cadets of Direct Short Service Course (DSSC) 26 Nigerian Army and Direct Regular Course (DRC) 30 Nigerian Air Force to choose the path of honour if they want to excel in the military profession.

Lieutenant General Yahaya gave this charge at the Nigerian Defence Academy Cadets Mess, Afaka, Kaduna state, where he was the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) on the occasion of Regimental Dinner Night organized in honour of the Passing out Cadets.

The COAS charged them to adhere to some important values such as commitment, discipline, honesty, regards for others, integrity, courage and loyalty, amongst others.


While congratulating them for their successful training in the Academy, Gen. Yahaya stated that the military job is a noble profession and urged them to align themselves with good associates and seek for challenges that would improve their knowledge each day.

The Army Chief who expressed his optimism that the Passing Out Cadets would imbibe all they have been taught in the Academy, enjoined them to always find solutions to problems in order to be of assistance to their future commanders.

He further enjoined them to live exemplary lives before their subordinates, noting that missions often fail because officers failed in their leadership.

The Battalion Senior Under Officer (BSUO) Ibrahim Khalid of Arakan Battalion, expressed his gratitude to the COAS and the Chief of Air Staff for finding them worthy to be selected among many to serve Nigeria.

He promised on behalf of his colleagues, that they will utilize all they have learnt during their training when they leave the Academy.
