The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic party, Atiku Abubakar at a press briefing in Yola, Adamawa state capital, has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission to announce the results of the governorship election in the State.

He said the delay in announcing the mandate of the people is creating unnecessary tension in the state.

“On behalf of the people of Adamawa State, I want Nigerians and the International Community to know that the governorship election in the state was conducted and concluded peacefully. So far, out of twenty-one Local Government Areas in the State, INEC has declared the results of twenty in which the People’s Democratic party candidate, Umaru Fintiri is leading,” Atiku said.

Atiku emphasized that INEC has no reason not to announce the results as stipulated by the law.

”What is happening right now in the state is not good, the more delay the more tention is building which if care is not taking, it will destabilize the peace that the state has been enjoying in the past and people will no longer have trust in the country’s democracy,” Alhaji Atiku emphasized.

While calling on INEC to make use of what is on the Commission’s portal, he noted that what is happening in Adamawa State now does not reflect the democracy the country worked to achieve.
