The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to unify all parts of Nigeria, if he is elected into office in next year’s general election.
Atiku Abubakar said this on Wednesday at a breakfast meeting with the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Lagos, South-West Nigeria.
He recalled that the country was on a march to being better unified at the return of democratic rule in 1999 before steering off course.
On the economy, Alhaji Abubakar said he will build on the economic policy of the Obasanjo-Atiku government of 1999-2007, which he said was focused on liberalization of the economy.
He said that he remained committed to a private sector-led economy, which will be characterized by the privatization of government establishments and empowering the private sector to create more jobs.
The former Vice-President was unequivocal on his stance on restructuring.
He restated his commitment to restructuring which includes resource control, revenue allocation and distribution, policing, devolution of powers, amongst others.
