AYD Doma Begins Nasarawa State Federation Cup With Victory

The Nasarawa State Federation Cup began with AYD Doma FC defeating Keffi Warriors FC 3-2 in the opening ceremony of the tournament, at the Lafia Township Stadium in Lafia, Nasarawa State, North-Central Nigeria.

In the 5th minute, Afole Joseph opened the scoring for of AYD Doma FC, before Keffi Warriors FC equalised through Jamiu Abdulraqib in the 37th minute of the game as the first half finished 1-1.

A goal from Isiyaku Saidu of AYD Doma in the 67th minute had given an edge to his team, but Adamu Suleiman of Keffi Warriors scored another equalising goal through a penalty awarded in the 71st minute. 2-2!

However, the 80th minute strike by Thomas Nuhu sealed the victory for AYD Doma FC as the team zoomed into the semi-Finals of the competition.

In a post-match interview, Nasarawa State FA Chairman, Salisu Galadima, said he was impressed with the performance of the two teams and the officials at the first game. He assured that the teams would receive cash donations from the FA at the end of the competition.

Also, the Chairman of AYD Doma, Abdullahi Yakubu-Doma, lauded his team for its performance at the game and expressed optimism that his boys would be the winners of the 2024 Federation Cup in the state.

The man of the match Thomas Nuhu, said they are ready to defeat Nasarawa United in the semi-finals.

Seven teams are participating in this year’s edition of the Nasarawa State Federation Cup.
