The distribution of 2.3 million insecticide treated nets in the 11 LGAs of Gombe state has been completed successfully.

The beneficiaries commended the Federal Ministry of Health and the Gombe State Government for the gesture and asked the government to sustain the programme so that Nigeria will be free of Malaria disease.
Our correspondent in Gombe state interacted with some beneficiaries in Gombe LGA and Akko, where they confirmed that they received the insecticide treated nets, and commended the processes and procedure of the exercise.
Muhammed Yerima, of State Low Cost, Gombe Local Government who has one wife and two kids acknowledged that his household also received the insecticide treated nets (ITNs).
‘I am Malam Muhammed Yerima of State Low-Cost Gombe state, yes, we received Insecticide Treated Nets, some workers came into our compound, registered my household, gave us information about malaria, how to use and care for the net and gave us free Insecticide Treated Nets. I appreciate the donors and called them to sustain it so that we can have a malaria free society.’
Also, Ahmed Babaji of Buba Shongo acknowledged that his family was given Insecticide Treated Nets, he stated this while responding to the Mosquito Net distributions exercise in his community.
‘ I went back home after I closed from the business I saw plenty of treated mosquito Nets hanging under shades, I was told it was given to my household by ITNs distributors. This is a good attempt to eliminate Malaria disease, I appreciate the donors and the government that provided the ITNs.
The Gombe Local Government Coordinator of the ITN distribution, Dr Ibrahim Audu Sadi informed that the LGA distributed over 276,846 nets to households in Gombe Local Government
‘The exercise was successful and I am calling on the beneficiaries to hang their nets under shade for 24 Hours before sleeping in inside, it is the one of the most efficient ways of preventing malaria in our community. I also urge people to keep their environment free of water receptacles, because the water receptacles in our environment provides breeding spaces for mosquitoes that transmit malaria.
The ITN distribution exercise was supervised by the National Malaria Elimination Programme, and Gombe State Primary Health Development Agency.
