Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria to Host Awards in Abuja

The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) will hold the second edition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Awards (TNBA) on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Abuja.

The event, scheduled for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the NAF Conference Centre in Kado, will celebrate excellence and promote quality practice in the broadcast industry, according to a statement by BON officials.

A total of 204 entries covering broadcast performances in 2024 were submitted for consideration.

The Awards Selection Committee is chaired by Dr. Danladi Bako, a former Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, with members drawn from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), the NBC, and veteran broadcasters.

Winners will be unveiled in 24 categories, including Radio and Television Stations of the Year, Best Reporter of the Year, Best Newscaster of the Year, and Best Producer of the Year.

BON will also honour industry veterans for lifetime achievements.

They include former NTA Director General Engr. Shyngle Wigwe, former NTA Managing Director and ex-Ambassador to the Philippines, Ambassador Yemi Farounbi, and Chairman of Channels Television, Dr. John Momoh. Others are former Voice of Nigeria Director General, Malam Abubakar Jijiwa, former Abubakar; theimi Television Director General, Hajia Sara Ibrahim, and veteran broa;caster, Mrs. Bimbo Oloyede.

Posthumous awards will go to the founder of DAAR Communications, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, as well as Mr. Timawus Mathias, Mr. Okokon Ndem, Chief Mrs. Anike Agbaje-Williams, and Mr. Patrick Ityohegh.

The event will recognise the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Governors Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River, Dr. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, and Senator Uba Sani of Kaduna, as well as former BON Executive Secretary, Mr. Obadiah Tohomdet, for their support of the media industry.

Corporate recognitions will be extended to DAAR Communications, MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, Desmins Broadcasting (DITV), and Voice of Nigeria.

Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose is the Executive Secretary of BON, while Mr. Bayo Awosemo serves as Chairman of the 2025 TNBA Committee.
