Boniface has equaled Erling Haaland’s Bundesliga record after winning the Bundesliga Player of the Month award for August on Thursday.
It was Boniface’s second individual award since joining Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer.
His first was the Rookie Player of the Month for the month of August also.
Boniface is now the second player to win both the Bundesliga Player and Rookie of the Month in the same month.
Haaland was the first player to achieve the feat when, as a Borussia Dortmund player, he won both awards on January 2020.
Since his move to the Bundesliga, Boniface has scored four goals in three league games for Leverkusen.
Up next for Leverkusen is a tough away clash against champions Bayern Munich on Friday, 15 September.
Leverkusen, on nine points after three games, currently top the 18-team league table.
