Borno Government Unveils 556 Projects on Second Year Anniversary

The Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum marking this years democracy day unveiled 556 projects of his administration under two years, Commissioner for Information, Babakura Abba Jato announced at the occasion.

The Commissioner made the announcement during the occasion to mark the celebration of democracy day. Which was attended by Governor Zulum, National and State Assembly members, traditional rulers, party leaders, heads of security agencies and top Government officials.

The laudable projects were showcased with graphics, 70% of the 556 projects have been fully completed with many being put into use, while 30% are at various levels of completion.

The Commissioner said, the 556 projects were the official number of projects listed while they are others that were just starting. And also it didn’t include policies and programs.

The commissioner said, “194 capital projects were delivered on education, and they encompass rehabilitation, completion and fresh construction of mega-size Government technical colleges and primary schools in different communities”. 

” While 63 capital projects were delivered on Governance, and another 63 capital projects on roads, transport, rural and urban development, 59 capital projects were delivered on water and environment”. 

The Commissioner said “Gov Zulum delivered 58 capital projects on health, which include establishment of 74 primary healthcare centres, new doctors’ quarters, and overhaul of 8 hospitals in MMC, Biu, Damboa, Monguno and Magumeri” .

He also recalled that monthly allowances of volunteers in the Civilian JTF, hunters and vigilantes was increased, while over 700 vehicles and other logistics were needed to enhance their operational roles of complementing armed forces in fighting Boko Haram.

Governor Zulum  remarks at the occasion said, ” I’m  not satisfied with all the projects recorded, in the next two years of my administration job creation and youths empowerment will be our focus. The less privileged will be enrolled into full education system  including the almajiris would be rehabiliated and reintegrated into the Tsangaya system of education.

Governor Zulum, also said “Any politician who engaged in corruption will not be spared, all LGAs chairman would be held accountable for any mis- appropreration of fund”.

He further said, “arrangements have been concluded for establishment of The Independent Corrupt Practice Commission (ICPC) for the state and LGAs and any public office holder who mismanaged any fund will be investigated and prosecuted if found guilty”.
