The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has commended troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their professionalism, bravery, and dedication in sustaining counter-terrorism operations.
The commendation follows a series of operational successes recorded by troops between 30 March and 2 April 2026.
According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, the Armed Forces achieved significant gains through coordinated military efforts nationwide.
These successes, he said, “included kinetic engagements against terrorists, arrests of criminal elements, rescue of kidnapped civilians, dismantling of illegal economic sabotage networks, and the interception of logistics pipelines used by criminal groups”.
General Oluyede urged troops to remain vigilant in the discharge of their duties while strictly adhering to the rules of engagement and upholding respect for human rights.
He emphasised the importance of treating civilians with dignity while operations continue across various regions.
The Defence Chief reaffirmed that the Armed Forces would neither relent nor be deterred in its constitutional mandate to safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty and ensure the security of all citizens.
He also called on Nigerians, community leaders, traditional rulers, and civil society organisations to support the military by providing timely and credible intelligence, assuring the public of the AFN’s unwavering commitment to protecting the nation and overcoming all security threats.
